When the iconic Dutch furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld envisioned building a chair out of plywood in 1934, building one was out of reach for someone with a small shop and the original design used solid timber bolted together. In this interpretation of the Rietveld design you will use Europly to create your own chair in a matter of hours. The result is strong, wonderfully comfortable, and truly a masterful expression of what minimalism is supposed to be.
In this class beginner and intermediate woodworkers will use the Festool system of tools to turn flat stock into this serpentine masterpiece of modern minimalism. All tools and equipment are supplied. Each student will leave with a completed chair ready for finishing.
Class is limited to 6 students.
Cost: $200 instruction fee + $70 materials fee
Instructor: Corn Schmid
Time: 9 AM - 5 PM
Duration: 8 hours
Location: Tools for Working Wood showroom, 112 26th Street, Brooklyn
