These stones offer a great way to sharpen very fast while still using traditional hand methods. They're popular for scissors sharpening, but they are also very useful for quickly sharpening any tool especially those using harder alloys like A2, D2 and HSS. The stones are 2-15/16" x 8-1/4" and made of aluminum topped with a 1mm layer of diamond in a hard substrate.

With normal use, the stones will stay flat 10-20 times longer than a regular hard water stone. The wide range reflects the amount of pressure you use on the stone. In general, use a light touch and let the stone to the work. Excessive pressure will shorten the life of the stone. The stone should be used with water, and each diamond stone comes with a small (about 1/2" x 1/2" x 3") green carbide stone for wiping off sharpening dust from the diamond stone's pore in case of clogging. When the entire surface of the stone is used for sharpening - i.e., normal sharpening - maintaining flatness should not be an issue. Made in Japan.
