One standard way of mounting movable shelves in a bookcase is to use a row of shelf pins to rest the shelf on. The Brusso version of the shelf pin is a very elegant, turned brass pin, with half the exposed pin machined off.
You can either install the pin in rows of 1/4" diameter holes drilled in your bookcase, or first install Brusso shelf pin sleeves in the bookcase. The advantage of the shelf pin sleeves is that they provide a precision fit for the pin and prevent the pin from slowly making the hole in the bookcase wider and looser over time.
This is a nice feature - especially in particle board and melamine carcasses. However, the real application of the sleeve is in bookcases or other similar units (like a living room wall unit, for example) where the shelves are both very visible and moved about. The pins are 1/4" diameter and project 7/16" under the shelf. The sleeves are 7/16" long and require a 3/8" diameter mounting hole.
Purchase 4 or more Brusso hardware packages and receive a 10% discount as our way of saying thank you. The discount will automatically show up as an entry in your basket.
All Brusso hardware is now also available in beautiful, solid stainless steel (not shown).
Brusso Hardware is Made in the USA.
