by Chris Pye
Another great book from the British master carver and teacher Chris Pye. This one is a compilation of his classic articles from Woodcarving, the British magazine. Pye starts with the essential tools and equipment and builds up to projects both simple (albeit elegant) and advanced. As in all of Pyes books, a tremendous amount of thought has gone into selection of the projects in the book, and the sequence of projects allows Pye to examine aspects of carving, explain them and build on this knowledge to advance to more complex projects. Specific sections highlight architectural carving, molding and lettering. As usual, Pyes own work is spectacular, whether a phoenix rising from ashes, a Buddha or a commemorative carved book. Softcover. 8 1/4" x 11 1/4". 175 pages.
