I am a big fan of the Stanley No. 40 Scrub plane. Since I mill wood by hand, it's a tool that's near and dear to my heart. While the No. 40 is not rare in the collectible sense, it is not unusual to find the plane without a proper blade. The No. 40 blade was always thicker (1/8") than the stock blade for regular Stanley bench planes, so it's doesn't really work to regrind a regular bench plane blade to a curve. This replacement blade by Ron Hock is the correct thickness and comes already ground to the proper curve for a scrub plane.

My assessment
By: Mitchell (Jun, 2018)
Well, here are the highlights that I would single out for this plane: -controlled metal plane -Wheel for adjusting the planing depth and the lever for adjusting the transverse position of the blade -The adjustment of the blade hole is done manually with the help of two screws that fasten the "frog" to the base - lacquered cast gray cast iron casing is milled from three sides - strong cast polypropylene handles are ergonomically shaped But as a whole, I would like to say that now the electric hand planer is also very good and the work by hand planes is more like art and self-gratification.
I own this product.
