Chris Vesper's hand crafted Double Square is as precise as it is beautiful, and is built in the spirit of hand craftsmanship. Chris collects, restores, and even better... USES vintage tools. His machine shop, outside Melbourne in Southern Australia looks something like you might expect a machine shop to have looked before the advent of the CNC "Machining Centers" that now dominate the manufacturing landscape.

The Vesper Tools Double Square is machined from solid steel, and comes with 4 stainless hardened and precision ground blades in your choice of Metric or Imperial markings. The knurled locking mechanism is comfortable to turn, and narrower than the body of the square, so the square will lay flat if need be. Additionally, the locking pin is prevented from rotating when the blade is removed so you never need to fidget with the tool when switching blades - which is a good thing because this square comes with such a handy selection of blades that you'll want to use them all.

Each square is a special tool, that you'll enjoy using. The sharp edge left by precision grinding (Vesper Squares are precision ground on all sides!) are removed by hand. This is both for comfort and precision, as the edge will not catch on the workpiece impeding a true reading. Additionally, the blades are ground square at the ends so they may also be used as a reference - handy when checking the sides and bottom of blind dovetail pins. Finally, the body of each square is machined and ground with a 45 degree angle on one end for quickly setting a bevel gauge, or scribing a mitre.

Squares come with 4 hardened stainless steel Blades. (Metric shown in Parenthesis):

3" x .55" in 1/16" grads (75mm x 14mm 1mm Grads)
3" x .16" in 1/16" grads (75mm x 4mm in 1mm Grads)
2.95" notched Mini-Blade (75mm Notched Mini-Blade)
6" x .55" in 1/16" grads (150mm x 14mm in 1mm Grads)
Vesper Double Squares are Made in Australia

Great helper

By: James (Feb, 2016)

Works really well. The narrow blade gets into even London tails and has really helped improve my paring. The adjustment mechanism holds tight and is dead square. I would buy this again.
I own this product.

Best friend for fine work

By: Matthew Masail (Jan, 2016)

If your looking for the best of the best, this is it. the quality and feel in the hand are outstanding and the small blades are super useful where no other tool can reach. not just for fine work, I use it to check edged for square all the time and the small size makes it much more comfortable than a 12" or even 6" model.
I own this product.
