We are complete suckers for this book. When we were kids, we remember finding the original books in dusty sections of the library - books with wonderful projects and tons of fun. The projects date from the early 1900’s, when Popular Mechanics magazine featured many creative toy-making projects. This nostalgic collection of the magazine’s toy and game projects includes projects that are still doable today, and others that are just fascinating as cultural history. The projects all encourage craft and inventiveness. Even the names are great: A Donkey that Nods and Wags Its Tail; An Interesting Water Telescope; Special Equipment for a Spy Lab. There are instructions for constructing a simple electric motors, Motorized Canoe and a Motor Car, a Miniature Windmill, and model airplanes. There are also nifty tricks and games and what the editors call "other amusements" - 159 in all. .
