|As the old saying goes "You can never be too rich, too thin, or have enough clamps". I just added clamps to our gift suggestions because I was making a list of stuff people could get me for the holidays and I realized I have clamps but if someone wanted to get me a woodworking related present, more clamps is just about the only thing I could use. |
There are lots of other tools that I think make great presents. Any of our Gramercy Tools backsaws for example comes to mind - the Sash saw being my favorite, Our Cabinetmaker's hammer (and nails to go with it), or a carving t-shirt. But a bunch more clamps would be welcome for me and anyone. We stock both top rated bar clamps made in the USA and wooden cam clamps that are really really nice and I find myself reaching for both all the time. It's actually how I got the idea for this blog entry - reaching for a wooden clamp. Anyway, I'm not suggesting that everyone in my family should chip in and get me more clamps I'm just sayin' that the thought might have crossed my mind and the 36" and 48" long bar clamps come in really handy a lot.
While I am at it a big shout out to Fine Woodworking. In the new issue (#231), in Matt Kenny's article on four saws you should have, we are pleased as punch that while the article doesn't mention any brand names, it's our Gramercy Tools Dovetail Saw that he uses in the article. He recommends a dovetail saw with a fine pitch like ours. We think our design makes sawing accurate dovetails easier. It's an elegant saw and it would make a fine present to any woodworker.
